While many of our families do belong to Harvest, we also serve a wide range of Christian churches in the broader community of Believers.

Do most of the children come from Christian homes?

Yes. Our mission statement states that: ‘Harvest Christian School exists to serve the Christian family…’

We endeavour to enrol families who desire Christian upbringing, teachings, norms and values for their children, so that the values of the home are supported by the school and vice versa.

When do we need to apply to secure a place for our child?

It is best to apply early in the year prior to the year in which you wish to enroll your child. I.e. if you seek admission for 2016, it is wise to apply by March 2015.

Do you have any single parent families?

Yes. We have a variety of family dynamics in our school.

Which curricula do you use?

We use a range of excellent and proven Bible-based curricula, which we have merged and adapted over the years to suit our own circumstances.

In our 2 younger groups we draw from the YWAM (Youth with a Mission) Curriculum for Young Children, supplemented by CAPS Numeracy.

In Grade R we teach Phonics from the ACE (Accelerated Christian Education) Reading Readiness Programme. This programme has suited us very well over the years. It not only give an excellent thorough grounding in the 35 phonetic sounds covered, but also includes character building and life skills from a Christian perspective. We also use an extended CAPS Numeracy Programme in Grade R.

What defines your pre-school?

We are a Christ-centred Bible-based school, with a loving and nurturing environment. We aim to pursue excellence in the education and development of the whole child. We see the pre-school as an extension of the Christian family and our role as one of supporting parents in the training up of their children.
