Harvest Christian School

HIGH SCHOOL

CULTURAL ACTIVITIES

Harvest strives to provide the opportunity to participate in and excel in the traditional and special cultural activities. Many life lessons and values are learnt and developed as students explore their God-given talents through participation in the variety of activities available to them.

Music

In Music we offer tuition for singing and a variety of instruments. Candidates are prepared by the teachers to play and sing in the external exams of Trinity College, Royal Schools and UNISA. We also prepare subject music candidates for the IEB Exams. The students study aspects of World Music, learning to compose and perform proficiently. When our students reach a certain level of competence, we encourage participation in ensemble performances and our regular Music evenings. Making music together is fun, satisfying and rewarding.

Choir

The choir is under the direction of a qualified and experienced conductor. The choir boasts a student membership of around 35 students ranging from Soprano to Bass voices. The choir performs regularly at Eisteddfods. The choir’s repertoire consists of unaccompanied and accompanied songs, in sacred and contemporary style and in various languages.

Drama

Students who show talent in Drama are encouraged to participate in our regular school productions as well as the annual One Act Play Festival where senior students select, organise and direct the plays.

Worship

Capable musicians with a heart for worship are encouraged to participate in our Worship Band. Regular practice sessions and prayer times ensure that the whole school enjoys anointed worship during our Friday morning Chapel.
